We came into this season bringing in a lot of new talent, but also returning quite a few as well. We started preseason with the annual meeting and testing, which consisted of the timed mile, sprints, lifts, and verticals. We had three practices before our first scrimmage at Owens Community College. There we had two teams and we changed the line-ups for every match. As a team, we worked very hard and saw a lot of great things, but also knew what we needed to work on at practices the next week.
Besides actual play, we did team building activities as well. One team building activity we participated in was the fall of trust. Each girl stood on the ledge and fell backwards into the arms of the team. The second activity we did was the wall climb, which consisted of having all of us start on the ground and having to get each girl up the wall. Not to mention the wall we climbed was 10-12 feet tall!! We successfully completed each activity. These team building activities taught us to work together and to have trust in each other, which we can take on the court.
We also went to the Toledo Mud Hen’s game for team building. Finishing preseason we held our first intersquad scrimmage. At the scrimmage we spilt teams and changed up the positions. We played five games. Again, we saw many things that looked good, but some we still needed to work on to help us get ready for our season. After the scrimmage we had a dinner to celebrate the end of the preseason. Parents and family were invited to help celebrate with good food.
We go in to our first match this Friday at the ONU tournament playing ONU first at 3:00 pm. We then play Carnegie Mellon at 5:00 pm. Saturday we play Heidelberg at 10:00 am and finish up the tournament with Thiel at 2:00 pm.
Hope to see many faces as we start off our season!
