During our first year as collegiate volleyball players at Defiance College, we learned so much and worked really hard to contribute to the team’s goals. Coming into camp, we did not know what to expect, but once we gained experience we learned the team dynamic. At Defiance College the team’s “Ohana” (family) environment makes you feel a part of something special, similar to a second family that none of us have ever experienced on a volleyball team before.
We shared some amazing memories on and off the court; such as the opportunity of volunteering for the Special Olympics and traveling to California to play competition outside of our region. Through all the obstacles we were faced with, we could always count on each other for support. Although we did not accomplish our aspirations of winning a Conference Championship, we ended on a strong note.
Reflecting on this season we feel that we have matured as volleyball players and have gained leadership skills on and off the court.
