DC Sophomores Reflect on 2010 Campaign

This season was an excellent learning experience. Coming into preseason, our team motto was “OHANA” meaning family. We wanted not only to be a team on and off the court, but to be able to lean on our teammates in all aspects of life. That was exactly what we achieved and it did not take long. By the end of preseason we saw each other as not only teammates, but as sisters. This chemistry would be an excellent component to contain when entering our conferences matches.

As sophomores this was mostly a learning year. Many of us came into the season with high hopes and high expectations. Although some of our goals had not been accomplished, many of our other goals had. We learned that just because you did not meet your goals does not mean that you have failed, it simply means that you just did not have enough time to achieve them. Also, that there is always next season for those of us who are not seniors.

When the season came to an end we all took different things with us. For some, it was that hard work truly pays off. While for others it was connections we made with our teammates on and off the court that will last a lifetime.

We all appreciate all the time and effort everyone on the Defiance College volleyball team has put into the 2010 season and we look forward to next year. We will miss our seniors very much and wish them the best of luck in their endeavors.
